Bonnie Young

Formerly a senior creative-design director for Donna Karan International, Young left her job to set up her own company after designing the outfits for the flower girl and pageboy for Gabby Karan’s wedding. The first Bonnie Young line was launched in fall 06 at the Donna Karan New York boutique, however she now boasts her own flagship store in Aspen, and is quickly gaining recognition overseas where she sells at high end retailers in Europe and the Middle East.

Today Bonnie Young has a complete collection for children, traditional and bon ton, elegant and precious. Starting from the materials, cashmere for knitwear, organic cotton for newborns. The organic element is the important component of the brands collection and philosophy. Bonnie has also created a special division within the company that also deals with charities, and with the co operation of New York graffiti artist Andre Charles, Bonnie Young creates limited edition garments for various organisations that deal with children’s protection.

Bonnie believes all little girls are princesses, a belief that comes to life in her fanciful dresses which include satin poet dresses, wrap dresses adorned with stars and moons, and poncho dresses with ruffled sleeves.

Young’s line is all about comfort and luxury. Her selection of layettes and unisex infants clothing is made from 100 per cent organic cotton or Italian cashmere. For babies, young offers one pieces, kimono tops, and drawstring silk pyjama style dresses and trousers. In describing her simple and classic children’s line, Young asserts her collection is not a takedown of adult styles. It offers children their own unique and stylish identity. It’s a range well known by celebrities, including Kelly Klein who is a big fan.

Young has added children’s furniture to the line after renovating her home and making a room under her daughter’s instructions.

Sizes range from infant to size 16.
